Are futons difficult to assemble?
Answered By Editor
No, futons are not difficult to assemble.
Detailed instructions are usually provided
for easy assembly. If you've misplaced your
instructions, no need to worry. Most futons
are made very similar and use the same parts
to assemble them.
On a traditional futon, there are six main
parts: 2 arms, 2 rails, a seat and a back
section. You can tell the back section from
the seat section by the three pre-drilled
holes on the sides with the wood sides
extending down to allow the seat section to
be connected. Your hardware will generally
consist of 8 bolts, 8 barrel nuts (shaped
like a barrel), 4 nylon rollers, 6 metal
pins, 6 washers, 6 cotter clips, and an allen
wrench.
It's easy to find instructions online by
searching "how to assemble a futon."
